PRODUCT USAGE Q1. Can the SOHO products interface with MS Word and other word processor packages? A1. Yes, you can cut and paste to and from the SOHO products, or you can export the SOHO document and save it as a text or a word document. Q2. Can you import text to the SOHO products? A2. Yes you can import text and whole documents to the SOHO products. Q3. Can you import and export to and from Excel with Business Planner and Marketing and Sales Planner? A3. Yes, via cut and paste and/or by file import. Q4. Does Business Writer contain all the documents contained in the 125 Suite of Products? A4. Yes, the 125 Suite of Products are subsets of Business Writer. Q5. Can I upgrade from a 125 product to Business Writer? A5. Yes, we will be pleased to offer you a cost effective upgrade please enquire. Q6. Will Business Planner create a marketing and sales plan? A6. Yes, Business Planner will create a the marketing and sales plan. Business Planner creates plans for all departments including the marketing and sales department, the production department, the R & D department, the administration department, the engineering department, the purchasing department and the financial department. Q7. Can I upgrade from Marketing and Sales Planner to Business Planner? A7. Yes, we will be pleased to offer you a cost effective upgrade please enquire. Q8. Can you transfer information between different users (licensed copies of SOHO software)? A8. Yes, documents and plans can be transferred between users. Q9. Can I use Business Planner to create business plans for my customers? A9. Yes, you can use Business Planner to create business plans for your customers. What you cannot do is load the software on their machine or give them a copy of the software. Q10. Can the software be used in a networked environment with several users? A10. The software license is for a single user. Please enquire about multi user licences. INSTALL QUESTIONS Q1. Problems under Windows 98 - "Illegal function Error" message appears under Windows 98. This is caused by a ATI video driver passing back to our software an incorrect screen size. We have programmed around the problem. A1. A replacement CD is available on request. Q2. What to do - the install process has detected possible conflicting DLLs and VBXs. A2. This problem is documented in the README text file which is created in the install process. Essentially the SOHO install process has detected that you have DLLs and VBXs in either you Windows and/or your System directory that may be older versions of the ones SOHO has supplied. The SOHO DLLs and VBXs will install in a sub directory called DLL ie in the SOHO\DLL directory. We suggest that you rename the older versions as *.OLD then the SOHO programs will execute. Q3. When trying to start the SOHO systems for the first time one of the following messages was displayed: Invalid file format... File Not found .... Cannot load library .... C++ A3.The above problems are generally caused by different versions of the run time libraries used by SOHO products being in the search path ahead of the SOHO\DLL path. This results in conflicts launching problems with the SOHO suite of products. SOHO Software has recognised and has addressed this problem with all future versions of it’s products. However, a solution to overcome all of the above known problems is:- 1.1. COPY the executable file into the SOHO\DLL folder. (Eg. For Business Planner copy the executable "Bplanner.exe" from the "BPLANNER" folder into the SOHO\DLL folder. 1.2.Change the Start menu (or Icon - for Windows 3.11) to point to the copied executable now resident in the SOHO\DLL folder. Windows will search the default folder (in this case SOHO\DLL) to resolve external library routines first, before examining the the standard path definitions. SOHO has isolated its external libraries into the SOHO\DLL folder to ensure it’s products do not cause problems with other applications installed on your system. This is however, not the case with all product suppliers, who often install their external libraries into the Windows or Windows\System folders. This ensures their products will work correctly, often to the detriment of other installed products from other suppliers. |
